When labeling storage for children, use visual images to
identify which toys go in which bins. For example, a photograph
or drawing of a doll on a container will help toddlers to be
in charge of their own toys.
Tip: The visual images should be accompanied by text in a large,
easy to read font to help keep parents organized at a glance.
Purging: The One-in One-Out Rule. When giving new toys to your
children, teach them that for each toy they receive, they should
give an old toy away to someone for whom it will be new. This
helps prevent the accumulation of old toys and teaches children
early on that they should give to receive.
