How
to Organize Office Paper Clutter
A horizontal filing system, like a literature-sorter,
is an ideal filing system for paper-pilers. Label each slot with
a specific
category - for example “school forms”, “unpaid
bills” and “paid bills“.
If you own your own business it’s important to stay on
top of your financial statement, bills, and invoices. Keep statements
for 7 years just to be safe.
If you do not have a business, you don’t need to keep hard
copies of your bills once the payments have been processed. But
if you are uncomfortable tossing your bills immediately after
the payment is processed, then keep them in a “Paid Bills” file
but make sure to purge them after a year.
