How
to Organize and Effectively use a Large
Wall Unit
A built-in wall unit offers a great opportunity
for storage and display of decorative items, however it
can quickly become a dumping zone for spill-over of clutter.
In order to effectively use your wall unit to its advantage,
store items in order of priority from bottom to top.
- Store your most used items, such as household items
(i.e. candles, light bulbs, small tools) in clearly labeled
decorative baskets on the bottom shelves.
- Store books, magazines, DVD’s and CD’s on lower
shelves where they can still be easily accessed.
- Use the
upper shelves for display purposes.
- To make the most out
of the unit, plan what you will be storing before putting
anything away.
- Bringing in an indoor, decorative but still
functional, ladder helps you make use of the vertical space.
- Don’t buy organizing supplies until you know what you
need to store or they’ll quickly become a part
of the clutter instead of the solution.
